The following is an array of suggestion to streamline the moused-click interface.
-
I think the mouse interface could be improved by eliminating the need to click stop. The act of selecting the next action would imply a termination of the current action.
-
A compliment to that would be a way to single click a local wiggle from component to component. Maybe double click a component to stop the current wiggle and start a wiggle on the clicked component.
-
A alternate stop method would be a click in the white space.
- A user defined list of frequent operations in a white-space dropdown would be a nice addition. Then a list of operation could be a click away not at the corners. It would also provide an opportunity to present list like:
o stop -> shake
o stop -> global wiggle,
o stop -> clear bands -> re local wiggle
o rotate clockwise 1 tick
o rotate counter-clockwise 1 tick
o straighten 1 tick
as single drop-down click select actions
- It would be nice to provide a convert range so that the components between two locks could all be converted to coiled or sheets instead of converting each one.
- A macro mechansm of some type would be nice. For example a way to cycle through n components in a row, doing a wiggle -> shake by just starting with one and having the click do the {stop -> shake -> select next component -> local wiggle} via a single click would permit easy cycling along a portion of the protean.
- The tweak interface could be streamlined by offering a rotate - clockwise
rotate - counter-clockwise
straighten
and have the way of only moving one tweak at a time.
For compacted protean the arrows are often obscured and getting the interface to only rotate a single tick is a bit clumsy.
