When I'm trying to drag sections of a long chain into the positions I want them in, they have a natural tendency to deform and rotate making it difficult to achieve the alignment that I'm after.
How about a tool that allows me to chop up sections so that I can position them relative to each other more easily and then glue them back together again (joining the same cut ends to each other)?
