Please replace the Feedback Search function with the one on the Home page

Our Feedback Search function barely works, and may be causing a lot of duplicate feedbacks.

For instance, type in "edit cookbook while running a script" into both search windows.

If searching from the Home page, you get a Google page with "About 1,100 results", and the top few are feedbacks posted, which would lead to a comment in an appropriate one.

If searching from the Feedback Search function, you get nothing, no hits, no results, often prompting yet another feedback on an issue or idea that has already been discussed.

I have wanted this ever since you suggested the google home page search (which is now super useful!)
Thanks for bringing this up!
Hopefully we can get this added soon!

Just wanted to give you an update on this (since it was mentioned in this feedback: http://fold.it/portal/node/995390#comment-23568).

Implementing this isn't as easy as the main page because Google obviously doesn't refresh that quickly, so none of the recently posted feedbacks will show up in a google search.

We are working on it, but just a heads up that it's not as simple a fix as last time!

The recently posted feedbacks will be on the first feedback page anyway, so what's the problem?

I think the problem is that the first page of feedback covers only about a week's worth of posts. What happens if there was a duplicate post made a month ago? Should people really have to search manually through the feedback section on the assumption they might eventually find what they're looking for?

That's a misunderstanding, my post was meant to be a reply to beta's concerns about Google's up-to-dateness.
Even if Google's robots would need half a week to index a new feedback post (which they don't), we'd still be fine because the recent posts are on the first page anyway.

I have tried it and it works a lot better. A few remarks:
It does not limit the scope to only feedbacks, maybe an autoadd of "Case number" in the search whould do the trick.
And because it jumps out of the foldit site I would prefer it to present the results on a different tab or page.

I'm not sure it's a bad thing that it's not limited to feedback. Often players post feedbacks in the forum or a puzzle's page, so I think it's a feature if you find those as well.
+1 to Timo's last sentence, though.

Although it does present the same Google search results as searching from the home page, clicking on this link in FF mac shows the page as not secure (red bar and lock x'd out). When entering search terms, I get a warning from this link:

"Security warning - Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party. Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?"

Again, the home page search does not trigger this. I use NoScript which must be triggering the red bar and warning - but many players use this also.

I completely agree with Timo that all searches that lead to a Google page (anything offsite) should open in another tab. I also agree with Madde that it's very helpful to have non-feedback results also listed for the reason he states.
