Hi,

Align to guide does not seem to work on frozen structures. Is this a feature or a bug ?

vakobo Lv 1

I don't understand what steveB is talking about, but i face this problem in other way.
When i get Peekaboo it apears in absolutely different location and 'G' key does not work.

@ vakobo, you need to hit the home key before using peekabo, that way the protein will be centered in the same position as the guide when you start it.

steveB:
I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean.
Does the align to guide (G key)-
(A) appear as not functional (or)
(B) it appears as functional and when you click on it, it does not work ?

vakobo:
While Steven's reply does seem to be a fix to this problem, this error should not be happening. We'll definitely look into this. Thanks for pointing it out.

Steven:
As I mentioned to vakobo, your solution is good solution, but we're trying to make it such that centering is not a necessity. Thanks for the help.

thanks guys.

Sorry if that was not too well explained…lets try again.

If you have a protein and freeze a sheet or a helix, if you right click on the frozen structure nothing happens - the guide does not align to the protein.

I was wondering whether this was deliberate and that you don't want us aligning frozen structures to guides, or whether it ia a bug in the code and the frozen property is overiding the align function.

Thanks for all your replies aloofmonkey :)

still not explained properly..

it should read

"….when you right click on the frozen structure and select 'align to guide', nothing happens"

Align to guide not working on frozen structures is a feature. The align guide in the pie menu operates on the same segments that a shake or wiggle from the pie menu would (which is none if they are frozen). You can see the segments it will use because they get slightly brighter when you mouse over the protein.

The peekaboo should be alignable, however.
