In the new interface, puzzle 393, I was using "mutate sidechain to best identities" while an enabled band was attached to the sidechain in the mutable section. This caused a foldit crash (x2). I don't know if that sidechain was being mutated but I assume so.
This bug is still very much in existence and is easily reproducable. Attach a band to a mutable sidechain that is sure to be mutated, press mutate sidechains and watch foldit disappear in a puff of electrons.

It is interesting that you say that Brow because it no longer happens to me, and I can't reproduce your findings. I am using vista.
I forgot, I am also using the developmental version.
Sigh, now I can't either.
I had 229 and 230 Glutamate and…Arganine? Band from middle of each sidechain to the main flu protein, hit M. One or both will mutate, and on the next tick, the game crashes. Everytime from that same point I could reband and mutate and crash 5/5 times, it didn't matter where I banded. But not from my current game.
