jflat, can you please send me a PM with a contact e-mail so I can mail you a solution file.

To clarify, my problem seems to exist only for files saved by a previous version of the client. So one would expect a file format issue, or data initialization issue.

Thanks for the solution files. It's crashing now, so hopefully we'll be able to figure out the problem soon.

You're welcome. While you're at it, can you also disable the tooltip texts ? ;-)
They are sooooo annoying when using the mouse to manipulate the protein…

Bletchley Park, your tooltip request is now posted in the Developer Preview.

There is now an option to disable tooltip texts in the General Options.

I'm not closing this feedback, however, since the main issue in the Feedback (loading previous solutions) needs to be resolved in the next main update.
