I Googled ATIRadeonX3000GLDriver and was able to find a similar crash reported in Introversion's DEFCON game. The suggested solution there was to disable smooth lines in the game's graphic settings, and it worked. Does that correspond to any specific part of the graphics in FoldIt (i.e., is there a View setting that can be turned off) or is it used everywhere?

I haven't found anything about updated drivers, and AMD's recommended "solution" for all game-related crashes is to check the game site for patches. So they call it a game bug and you may well see it as a driver bug. I hope this doesn't end up in a stalemate. :)

speaking from appalling ignorance SteveB has been crashing at the 'same place' for weeks, he was able to get in until the latest upgrade. Perhaps not just a mac problem?

Are you doing anything in particular when it crashes? Or does it seem to crash completely at random?

What scroll bars are visible when it crashes? And are you interacting with any of them?

For me, the crash seems to happen just as the first major change of the session is starting to be rendered graphically. So for example, I can start a wiggle and the crash will happen right after that. I minimized the chat windows, so I think the only scrollbars visible at the time are the ones for solo and group scores and the one for the cookbook. I'm definitely not interacting with them when the crash occurs. I'll try again with all scrollbars hidden and see if it still happens.

More on scrollbars: If I hide all windows with scrollbars, I can play without crashing. I also seem to be able to show my cookbook, recipe output and the undo window with no problem, including being able to manipulate the scrollbars in these windows.

After about 5 minutes of this, I tried opening the group scores window and crashed within 1 second. I also crashed trying to use the alignment/threading interface. Does alignment/threading need to communicate with the server at all?

So it's not just scrollbars. It seems to be tied into server communication. Is there any way to cause communication with the server without having scrollbars visible? I don't know how else to distinguish between the various factors here.

Hope this helps – let me know what else I can do.

And one more: with all scrollable windows hidden, I downloaded a number of recipes from the server successfully without crashing. But now the crash occurs immediately when I try to open my cookbook window. Note that this was not a problem before I downloaded the recipes. I can open the recipe window successfully if I play offline, and the new recipes are now on the list (but without those fun sparkles to tell me I have new recipes).

I'm having the same issue. When I try complex puzzles it crashes all the time. seems to be okay in offline mode though.
