I must add that I haven't had a problem with active IRC clients in quite some time, at least a few months. However I do agree that a disconnect would be nice, so we could more rapidly share images from clients of interest to whomever we desire.

I'm having frequent disconnects for no apparent reason as well, the past week or two. Every 10 minutes whether I'm actively folding, scripting in the background, or having a chat in group.
I don't even notice it unless I click the blue (!) button to see who's online and it turns red.
I can always reconnect instantly, or at least after a few tries.

This isn't ALL the time, but from the moment that I get a freak-disconnect, I keep getting them. Regardless of whatever else I'm doing on the computer. So it bums me out that I'll have to keep clicking reconnect and I just quit. :/

I don't use an external IRC btw, just the in-client one.

I need to take this back. I DO have this issue all the time since last update. Only sporadically before.
I'm unable to maintain an IRC connection to foldit, at any time. Even though my internet seems fine for browsing, online benchmarks rate my connection as medium-speed (5~8MB/s), and instant messaging services requiring non-stop connection work fine.

I'm going to try to set up an external IRC, connect to my group chat that way, and see how stable that is.

"reconnect" or "connect" from any client should always connect (even on the cost of disconnecting the connected client).

Very useful to share pictures, scores or last recipe used (when sharing to group) or in order ti be able to import recipes on the computer or client we want.

Now, we are obliged to stop a gaining client if we want to exchange info or recipes on another client.

Alternatively, I support the idea of a disconnect button, which would give the same opportunity to reconnect elsewhere.
