It is not possible to 'reinstate' deleted segments (other than reset, undo). Is this correct? I do not want to increase the total number of segments available - just work within the total number offered at the start.

Thank you for reporting this bug.
You should always be able to reinsert any residues you have deleted.

a fix has been added for this, so it shouldn't happen in future puzzles
