Foldit does not run after installation on Windows XP

I am planning to present Foldit to the youngest students in our university's computer laboratory within a month. All computers in the lab have Windows XP installed. Unfortunately, the current version of Foldit for Windows does not run on Windows XP. I install it properly but when I click on the Foldit.exe I receive the message that Foldit.exe is not a valid Win32 application and nothing happens. I checked on a few computers with Windows XP (not only on those in the lab) and this problem occurs on all of them. On Windows 7 there is no problem. I need help. Thank you in advance.

It appears that we need to update our information, as recent changes have most likely rendered Windows XP incompatible with our game client.
