@lison, symmetry puzzles, including the beginner symmetry puzzle, have been broken for a while. The last regular symmetry puzzle was 1266 in 2016, which ended up being cancelled due to bugs. Before that, the last symmetry puzzle was in the 900s, as far as I can tell.

The beginner puzzle seems playable on Windows, based on a quick test just now. That's probably why it's been kept around.

The new experimental release seems to have fixed some of the problems. Bertro was testing the experimental release. See update group for instructions on how to try the experimental release. The experimental puzzles are all worth zero points.

I've updated Symmetry Design on the wiki to mention that symmetry is broken.

In general, in a feedback, let us know what platform you're on (Windows, Mac, or Linux), and include log.txt and debug.txt (if one gets generated). The general options menu (control+t) displays the build id and release group you're using.

Please note that both log.txt and debug.txt already include the build id and release group info.

@bertro, I see you are correct, there's a buildid entry in both log.txt and debug.txt, something like this:

buildid: 20180221-63636ac26f-win_x86-experimental

So it's not absolutely necessary look at general options if you include one or both or log.txt or debug.txt in your feedback. However, general options (control+t) is the user-friendly way to confirm which version of Foldit you're running.

Separately, after my previous post, encountered several crashes with the beginner symmetry puzzle on the current devprev release, 20171208-e675de91df-win_x86-devprev. So I'd still put an asterisk next to the name, with (*crashy - play at your own risk) down at the bottom.
