German language support

Hi all,

We are organizing an event for kids in Germany and I wanted to know if the German language is supported in Foldit?

I have tried selecting it: Language->Deutsch->Apply Language->[Foldit will now restart to install the new language pack]->OK

The game restarts, but nothing happens. Language is still English and Deutsch is still not available.

Thanks in advance!

Best,
Davide

(Update)

I have found the instrucions on how to add langauges ("https://foldit.fandom.com/wiki/Foldit_Translations").

Looking in my "/resources/locale/" directory, I see many 'foldic.cc.po' files, including the 'de' one, but the new language is not applied when selected under "Apply Language". Same happens with all other languages.

I have installed Foldit in Ubuntu 20.04.

Best,
Davide

I tried also on a mac OSX, and I observed the same behavior.

<pre>Hi Davide,

A German translation of the Foldit wiki is
at https://foldit.fandom.com/de/wiki/Foldit
I hope you find it helpful. Please note that
I am neither a German speaker nor an official
member of the Foldit staff. I am just a
long-term Foldit player. Official members of
the Foldit staff have green and white ribbon
icons near their usernames. Hopefully one of
them will respond to your questions before
long.

Thank you for your patience,

If you will be teaching children how to play Foldit,
please see the info at https://fold.it/educator for
educators.

Hello,

On Windows:

I just tried to change language to French (it used to work in the past): only EN seems to be installed. I verify everything like you did.

It's a new bug.

Bug has been verified, and I think we have a fix for it.

In the mean time, I think you may be able to get language support by manually editing the options.txt file in the Foldit directory to add the line

"language" : "de"

I believe this should persist across restarts, but depending on what happens you may need to repeat it occasionally.
