@jflat06 Thanks, I get the impression you are collecting a lot of telemetry data on the clients as they seem to stall between actions as well that should not incorporate loading saving or sharing data. "reduce network bandwidth" was a setting in the old client, how about exploring that avenue ? Or get a network specialist to examine your setup (routing, load balancing that sort of stuff) as the website also experiences this 502 problem.
Just adding my 2 cents. It might be that the size of the ED puzzle will send bigger messages to the servers. So big that the server can't cope with the load. Hope this helps.
May be marking a pause of several days without ED puzzle in order to verify this ? Then setting another frequency of contact with the server for further big ED puzzles.
I also noticed differing delay times for getting AF results depending on time period (less time needed when east America is sleeping)
Whatever causes this, this is poorly designed network and resource usage.
If this continues, the problem will cure itself; people will stop visiting and stop folding until it is fixed.

Hi BP - I am currently trying to add more logging information to our servers to diagnose where/why this is happening.
Thank you all for your patience with this one. We’re still trying to track it down and figure out what’s causing these issues (as it’s driving us as crazy as it's driving you).
Newest iteration of the problem is "Failure getting data from peer" message when trying to load latest FMN binder puzzle #2262. Hope you are able to solve the issues soon(est)!

Hey all, we have discovered a bug in the puzzle list fetching code for the client that was causing it to recompute every time, and was making these calls very slow. We have fixed this to properly cache the results. This should improve client performance in any situation where the client requests the puzzle list (logging in, refreshing it manually, and I believe loading puzzles). This fix went out last Thursday.
We are still seeing 502 errors on our backend logs, so this hasn't fixed the issue from this thread. We will continue to improve our logging and try to track down these issues.
