On the weekend of May 30th and 31st, Foldit was featured as one of the scientific activities at the Open Science event organized by the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) in Campinas, Brazil.

As one of the largest scientific outreach events in the country, the institute welcomed 39,000 visitors, from school groups to families, eager to learn more about science.

During the protein modeling and design activities organized by the Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio/CNPEM), visitors engaged with Foldit’s educational puzzles. Using the software, kids and families learned about protein folding and how proteins can be designed for specific functions, including therapeutic applications, all in a relaxed, hands-on environment on a sunny day.
