Description

This sandbox puzzle features a FMN ligand binder design by blazegeek from Puzzle 2248. This design does a great job of burying hydrophobic atoms, with the hydrophobic end of of the FMN ligand target buried in a tightly packed hydrophobic pocket. Since the polar end of FMN is exposed to solvent, this binder does not make many hydrogen bonds to the ligand. This is okay for binding strength, but could hurt the binding specificity, with nothing to stop binding to other hydrophobic ligands. For more, check out the latest Foldit Lab Report on YouTube!
