This puzzle gives a higher score the further away the three copies are from each other, with all hydrophilic side chains.

IntermediateThis is a 70 residue symmetric trimer design puzzle; there will be three symmetric chains to manage. Remember, a symmetric protein relies not only on how well-folded each chain is, but also on how well they interface together. See the blogpost about this: http://fold.it/portal/node/993871
There is only 1 filter enabled in this puzzle. The Residue IE Score monitors all PHY, TYR, and TRP residues are scoring well. Press TAB on each residue to find out exactly what it expects of residues that do not meet the IE (interaction energy) requirements.
The score function is slightly different than on previous symmetry puzzles. We're hoping to see if this modification can replace the slow filters that have been previously enabled in other puzzles.

Hopefully you saw David Baker's blog entry from this morning where he pointed out that we are trying to solve the slow filters issue (that generate great results but make gameplay impossible) by trying to change parameters in the score function (to get rid of most filters, while preserving your great results).
Unfortunately, it's evident that the top-scoring results that are being generated with this new puzzle are far from great… but hopefully the speed issue for this puzzle seems to be working ok.
So yes… this puzzle is broken and will likely be closed very soon.
We apologize for this, and will probably post it in devprev so that we can sort out these issues before posting it as a regular puzzle.
Thanks again for your patience and especially for pointing out how broken this puzzle is!
