This puzzle challenges players to design a single-chain protein with 65-75 residues. We've softened the penalties associated with the Core Existence filter, which have typically been very steep. The starting structure has 65 residues, but more can be added at a cost of 23 points per residue. See the puzzle comments for filter details. The Baker Lab will run folding predictions on your solutions for this puzzle, and those that perform well will be synthesized in the lab. Remember, you can use the Upload for Scientists button for up to 5 designs that you want us to look at, even if they are not the best-scoring solutions!
So… tell me if I am reading this correctly. This puzzle has smaller penalties for NOT getting a core, and conversely we receive fewer points for getting one. It actually seems harder to hold the core on this puzzle so is there anything else we need to know? (noticed the usual comments describing the penalties aren't here, for example)
Sorry, I only saw this comment after the puzzle closed! You are correct: the core filter threshold is the same, and will be just as difficult to satisfy; only the associated bonus and penalties have been reduced. This applies also to the new Puzzle 1430.
The omission of a puzzle comment with filter details was an oversight.
