Description

This design puzzle introduces a new filter! The Secondary Structure filter counts the number of residues in helices or sheets by recognizing hydrogen-bonding patterns. Players will receive a 500 point bonus if fewer than 50% of residues are in helices; penalties are incurred if more than 50% of residues form helices. There are 3 additional filters enabled on this puzzle: the Residue IE Score monitors that all PHE, TYR, and TRP residues are scoring well; the Core Existence filter checks that at least 20% of the residues are buried in the core of your design; and the Fragment filter scans for parts of your design that are unlikely to fold up naturally. The Baker Lab will run folding predictions on your solutions for this puzzle, and those that perform well will be synthesized in the lab. Remember, you can use the Upload for Scientists button for up to 3 designs that you want us to look at, even if they are not the best-scoring solutions!

After years of devoted sacrifice on the Altar of the Aminos, the FoldIt gods have finally heard my prayer!

The megahelix was an evil, evil construction, spawned from the depths of the abyss, created to supplant the folding scores of realistic designs garnered by the Faithful and send them to the bottom of the top fifty.

But no more! From the heavens came The Secondary Structure Filter, and it divinely kicked the megahelix back into the bowels of Hell, where it belongs.
